Joyeux Noel

| Friday, December 24, 2010 | 0 comments |
In a few hours, I will be in a plane to New-Zealand and finally be with my little family. When I get there, we will celebrate Xmas the French way for Mila who expects Papa Noel to follow her with gifts wherever she goes (which is fair enough I guess) and then 2 days later, the Kiwi way at the beach.
From the bottom of my heart, I wish you all the most wonderful and relaxing Christmas with your family. Lots of love xoxo

PS: I leave you with this wonderful card from Therese Sennerholt...my kind of girl
PS2: I'm taking this book with me, which was recommended by Nathalie Massenet...if it's good enough for Nathalie, it's good enough for me ;-)

Yesterday, Julie from Kayatine sent us her new Mustache t-shirt for boys and Bow t-shirt for girls (trop cute!). As we've also received the Feather poster (the Meow one is almost gone!), I just thought I would compile a new selection of gifts for little people to include them.

1. White cotton dress 2.Mustache t-shirt 3. Doudou plush toy
4.
The Old Oak's Last Dream print 5. Apple rug 6. Bow t-shirt 7. Angel babygro
8.
Nelly print 9. Feather print 10. Royal Bird rocking chair
11. Mama's K aromatic modelling clay
12. Ball chair

Absolute favourites!

| Friday, November 5, 2010 | 0 comments |
Last night, when Elodie and I skyped each other to go through the gifts for women, we realized that most of the items we were listing were things we loved for ourselves so we've decided to share with you our own selection. Frankly, there is not enough space to put everything we have, would love to have, gave to friends (zut! I forgot to put this!), Steve's family in New-Zealand, what our mum takes home each year when she comes to help us out etc...
I have two Paulistano chairs at home (but I'm aware they are not for everyone's budget) and Elodie has a lot more prints at home and the retro robots (not in Lily's room but in Christophe's home office :-). I also love anything from Jacqueline Morabito's La Petite Epicerie range we started shooting yesterday but it's not online yet so these are amongst our absolute favourites!

1. EAT letters by House Doctor DK My kitchen is not looking great at the moment but these would be cool on a wall (next week, I will show you examples of letters at home)
2. Any single pendant light and Cluster lights by Kathleen Hills. Kathleen was one of the first designers we stock and she remains one of my favourite designers. Her designs are flawless, simple and timeless
3. La Tropezienne tote bag: we both have one in tan so does our cousin Marion which makes family reunion in the summer quite interesting...like a 'get together of La Trop' but it's still one of our absolute favourites!
4. Doudou Star cushion...ok we're suckers for anything with stars, call it a mid-life crisis or we are just young at heart, I don't know what it is but it works for us
5. This owl vase by House Doctor DK is one of our latest arrivals but just too cute!
6. Ball chairs...ah the ball chairs....massive coup de coeur the first time I saw them. At the time, we were still in Bristol but I went to a trade show in London with my friend Mandy and Mila in her pushchair and I fell so much in love that I convinced the exhibitor to let me have a white and black one at a discount price. Mandy and I ended up carrying these voluminous chairs on Mila's puschair from Olympia to the railway station and then all the way to Bristol...totally bunkers but it was fun :-)
7. The STAR dress (see compulsive addiction to stars above) but I tried it on at the last trade show and it's fab, light, comfy, works wonder with leggings or on top of jeans and it looks cool. The grey one is stunning too
8. London weekend destinations print: a new print designed by Betsy Benn (we have her Nelly print at home) and I love how striking and modern in a retro way (if you see what it means) it looks. Paris map print for Elodie. In fact, anything from Famille Summerbelle is a safe bet when we make gifts to friends, they are always a winner and the Family Tree print is fab for babyshower.
New-Zealand type map (I live with a kiwi...who complained he had to read my blog to find out we had it. Not true! I told him but he didn't listen). Next week, we're getting the USA type map and the London type map print
9. Rob Ryan plates: A massive hit already! We've been inundated by pre-orders and we get the stock around 15th but it's a no brainer. The set is super pretty, comes gift-boxed and costs only £25 which I think is a great price for a gift and it's the kind of set that will please Rob Ryan fans like my friend Mandy (again) and is great for mums, in-laws, etc...It's a bit the femine response to our best-seller Cognac glasses for men.
10. The pigeon light by Ed Carpenter..I've always loved it and I'm glad it's in our shop now. Great for teens rooms or cool family homes
11. the Laptop clutch bag by Clare Vivier: ON MY LIST!! I know I go on and on about Clare's designs but I absolutely love everything she does and the girl is going places! She just shipped a large order for Theory and I bet in a few years, she will be a big name so let's just get some of her sublime designs while we still can afford them!
12. STAR t-shirt (see compulsive addiction to stars above BIS): this is a woman t-shirt but last time I took pics of Mila wearing the small size (fair enough it was more a dress for her than a t-shirt) but it still looked great!

....Oh I forgot! If your boyfriend, husband, mum etc don't have a clue what to get you, just add things on your wishlist and email it to them and then they can just pick and choose and you're sure to receive something you really love!

BODIE and FOU Smart shopping

| Wednesday, September 1, 2010 | 0 comments |
Sending Christmas gifts to Friends and Family who live abroad can be expensive. At BODIE and FOU, we like SMART SHOPPING so we have put together a few tips to your international shipping costs down....
* Plan ahead: International Christmas deliveries by Royal Mail can only be guaranteed if parcels are dispatched by the beginning of December (and parcels sent by courier costs a lot more).
* Think flat and light: to keep international costs low, favour light pieces of clothing like our STAR T-shirt or STAR Scarf, our best-selling Angel babygro or this gorgeous and very flat iPad slipcase by Clare Vivier, small books (those from Edition Paumes are perfect) and art prints and posters.
* Group things together: Ordering several items at once will also keep shipping costs down.

Loving these gorgeous Australia & New-Zealand Type map prints

I'm very very happy to have these beautiful Australia and New-Zealand Type map prints in our little shop!
Last year, I thought I would be very organized and shipped all our Christmas presents for Steve's family in New-Zealand before flying there. I almost died when I saw the shipping costs but it was this or hearing Steve moaning about how heavy our luggages were, etc....Sounds familiar?
So I've learnt my lessons and this year, gifts for our beloved kiwi family will be super light like these uber cool Star t-shirts and Star scarves, flat-packed or rolled in a tube and these prints are just perfect! Plus they are really beautiful, original and they will go down a storm!

In fact, writing this reminded me that most of our overseas orders are for our prints and posters, Bird Clothes pegs and Angel babygros which show that not only we have savvy customers out there but also that maybe you would appreciate to have a gift category with all the gifts that are light and easy to send abroad. So here we go....just for you...Gifts to send overseas. It's not exactly sexy for a category name but it does what it says on the tin!

BODIE and FOU Gift guide Part 4: Christmas Gifts for children

| Friday, December 4, 2009 | 0 comments |

Here is BODIE and FOU Gift guide Part 4: Cool gifts for cool kids....
As you know, we are not massive fans of Barbie or Ben 10 themed toys for children. It doesn't mean that our girls don't have a few Barbie dolls they managed to get from their grandparents (and Mila was adamant about having her Ben 10 birthday cake earlier this year!) but there are a lot of young and talented designers who have designed cool, fun and contemporary toys and gifts for kids which we rather support.

11. Le Rounard cushion: £36.50

Something to add to your Christmas list!

| Wednesday, December 2, 2009 | 0 comments |
We've just added lots of super cute things for children like a Charlie and Lola dinner set, a very nice, organic newborn set by Kayatine, a Doudou sleeping bag (my favourite because it's safer for babies to sleep in this) and some fun Apple shaped and Bunny shaped children rugs by Michelle Mason so it's now it's time for 'les mamans'.
And 'la maman' in me can't wait to get her hands on one of these leather wrap bracelets by Clare Vivier - the uber cool LA designer behind La Tropezienne bag.
Look at this little beauty, doesn't it scream I'm cool and chic ?! :-) YES YES YES.
So here we go...as I wasn't the only one to think this was a must-have, we've added it to our little boutique here.

And if your man is still struggling with what presents to get you, just send him to us. Although it looks like our Christmas gift guides are helping them because we are seeing lots of orders from men buying really nice and stylish things but I think this wrist wrap is definitively one to mention to him or to add to your Wish list!
This morning I spoke to a very nice man who ordered two books from Paumes because his wife had ordered some before and he wanted to surprise her (I sincerely hope that his wife doesn't read this blog and I'm not giving away anything) but I thought it was very thoughtful of him.
Talking of the BODIE and FOU Wish List...Have you tried it, does it work for you? Please let me know, I would love to know if it's something useful to you...thx!

Celia Birtwell collection

| Wednesday, November 25, 2009 | 0 comments |
Muse of David Hockney and Sixties fashion legend Ossie Clarke, Celia Birtwell is one of the most influential textiles designers of her generation. She has been described as the face that launched a thousand prints and her contribution to the world of interiors has been phenomenal. Celia first started a textiles design course in 1956 at Salford School of Art then she moved to Notting Hill in 1961, lived in some colourful establishment (I like the euphemism from her bio :-), socialising with the swinging sixties bohemian crowd but it's not until she started designing for Ossie Clak in 1965 that she gained international critical acclaim as a textiles designer. While Ossie lived the rock'n roll life, Celia drew her inspiration from a more romantic and classical world such as Vita Sackville-West's Garden, Leon Bakst's costumes for the Ballets Russes, Picasso and Matisse.
Recently, one of her designs: 'Pretty Woman' has been re-edited in a range of beautiful gifts for women and I'm super excited to have these on our sister site because I think they will make wonderful gifts for my mother-in-law who is her keen gardener. She has one wonderful garden in New-Zealand and I'm always very admirative how everything looks so beautiful and green!
I wish I had green fingers....I've just managed to keep alive the beautiful orchid my brother and his girlfriend Julie gave me for my birthday last March and then my mum arrived and thought it was a fake one....it shows how much faith she has in my gardening skills!
I really like the Celia Birtwell range. It's so pretty and feminine and I wouldn't mind getting hold of the metal tin that comes with the Celia Birtwell Kitchen Drawer Kit, look at this! Isn't it gorgeous??? I can feel a collection of metal boxes coming along. I saw someone displaying lots of metal tins to store tea bags in their kitchen in one of the Kitchen books from Paumes and it looked terrific! Anyway I hope you like the range too!

Advent calendar by Noix de coc'

| Friday, October 30, 2009 | 0 comments |

This is one of the cutest advent calendar I've seen and it's by French company Noix de Coc'

It comes from France flat-packed and all you have to do is put these 24 little cubes together with little wooden sticks which are enclosed and there is also 2 faces per cube where you can draw, write whatever you like to make it even more personal!
This would be a fantastic craft project for the children

Update: Due to the volume of emails we've received, the Advent Calendar by Noix de Coc's is now available from BODIE and FOU.
